LLLT

Red Light Therapy is a natural therapy, sometimes referred to as Low level laser therapy (LLLT), biostimulation (BIOS), or photonic stimulation or simply light box therapy. Red light therapy emits red, low light wavelengths through the skin to stimulate cellular rejuvenation, increase blood flow, stimulate collagen and more. Red light is called “low level” because it works at an energy density that is low in comparison to other laser therapies.

There have been over 4000 published medical studies done on the effects and value of Red Light Therapy. Research and clinical studies over the past decade have shown strong evidence to indicate that the workings of Red Light Therapy have enormous healing capabilities for chronic conditions, some of which, Arthritis, depression, Anxiety, Pain Relief, Hair Loss, Skin conditions, just to name a few.

What is Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy is the use of a low powered red light that emits infrared light at wavelengths from 630 to 700nm and penetrates tissue to a depth of 6 -10mm, once absorbed, the light energy is changed to cellular energy stimulating the body’s natural processes. Red Light at these wavelengths are very beneficial in treating surface problems such as cuts, scars, infections, wounds as well as acupuncture points.

Infrared light (800-1000nm) penetrates deeper making it highly effective for treating deeper ailments such as muscle, tendon, joint, ligament, bone conditions. Studies have shown that it is a viable drug-free alternate method used to treat many medical & cosmetic conditions in the fields of neurology, physiotherapy and dermatology. Red light Therapy is a painless, chemical free, totally natural procedure that produces no heat therefore the emitted light has no feeling when it comes in contact with the skin.

How Red Light Therapy Works

Red light has the ability to pass through human and animal tissue much more easily than other forms of wavelengths. Once the red light is absorbed into the skin it transforms into cellular energy where it stimulates or “jump starts” many metabolic events;

Helps damaged cells to be replaced more quickly

Decreases inflammation

Formation of new capillaries

Activates the Lymphatic system

Increases blood flow/circulation bringing more oxygen to cells and tissues

Increased production of collagen

Stimulates DNA or RNA synthesis

Repairs and restores damaged soft tissue

Increased cellular clean up, otherwise known as Phagocytosis

Lowers effects of free radical damage associated with many effects of aging, also known as “oxidative stress”
